What is Bucket 100?
The Bucket 100 is a 120 mile bike ride between Bloomington and West Lafayette. This year, 2008, the ride will start at IU’s Memorial Stadium on the morning of October 4th and end at Purdue’s Ross-Ade Stadium on October 5th. Riders will spend the night in an overnight location at the half way point (included in the registration cost). Riders of every experience level join us each year. Some people have never ridden before and others have ridden hundreds of miles. Both groups have a great time riding!
Don't own a bike?
That’s alright! Purdue’s chapter will help you find one to ride before and during the event. E-mail Laura: ldeleon@purdue.edu.
Worried about fundraising?
Don't let the funraising aspect stop you from riding. Come to the callout at the top of this page to learn more about what the ride will consist of.
How do I train or meet other riders?
Go to the 'Announcements' link on the left to read when training rides are taking place. Training rides typically happen every Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday, weather permitting. Even if you are an experienced rider, come out to the training rides to meet the other riders. The ride is supposed to be fun and an opportunity to meet others. YOU DON'T have to be registered to come on a training ride. You can come to decided whether the ride is something you want to do.
What is the purpose of the ride?
The purpose of the Bucket 100 ride is to raise money to build a home in Lafayette or Bloomington. There are riders from Purdue and IU and other locals (but we encourage anyone to ride!). Purdue builds a home each year for a family in Lafayette using the funds raised from this fundraiser and various other fundraisers throughout the year. To learn more about what the Purdue Chapter does, click on the link to your left 'Purdue Habitat'.
How much does the ride cost?
This ride was created as a fundraiser for the IU and Purdue chapters of Habitat for Humanity. Each year Purdue’s chapter is able to build a house with the money raised from this fundraiser and other various fundraisers through the year. The ride is $45 per rider, but we ask that each rider raise money for the ride. After asking parents, relatives, professors, friends, and even business sponsors, almost everyone raises a good amount of money.
What does my registration cover?
An overnight location between Bloomington and West Lafayette, SAG support vehicles, snacks in the SAG, a t-shirt, and most meals.
